Dance, dance, dance

I was bored again today, so I wrote a little poem. The 2. line is about dance, the 3. is about life :)

Dance, dance, dance,
Don't think about the steps,
Don't think about others,
Dance, dance, dance.

Turn, turn, turn,
In your pirouettes,
Turn the other cheek,
Turn, turn, turn.

Fly, fly, fly,
When you're jumping,
Away from it all,
Fly, fly, fly.

Smile, smile, smile,
Because you are dancing,
Because you are living,
Smile, smile, smile.

Smiling, smiling, smiling at you,

Post Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, filled with joy, happiness, good food and presents! I had a wonderful Christmas, with my family. The only negative thing was, that my little sister was sick, like last year... It'sbecoming a Christmas tradition... Well to look on the bright side, she wasn't to sick to dance around the Christmas tree, and open gifts.
The days after Christmas are always a bit of an anti-klimax, with al the excitment of Christmas over. But I always focus on the things that are coming, like New Years Eve. My grandmother is turning 70, on the 1 of January, and therefore we are throwing a birthday party for her, on New Years Eve. And this gives me something to do, these post-Christmas days. Because I have to make a dessert for 12 people, and this dessert takes 5 days  to make.

The night before Christmas

Today it is Christmas eve!!!!! Here in Denmark we celebrate Christmas tonight, so it is here we open presents, and stuff like that. For our Christmas dinner we eat goose, white and brown potatos, and rice porrige, sounds kind of wierd, but tastes delicous. We all so have Santa Claus coming, with the gifts, which my little sister (3 years), is totally exicted for.
To all of you who celebrate Christmas, I want to tell you a story, or just write some of "The night before Christmas", my absolut favorite Christmas book:

It was the night before Christmas
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung,
By the chimney with care,
In hope that St. Nicolas,
Soon would be there.

The children were nestled,
All snug in their beds,
While versions of Sugar plums,                                   YAAAAY!!! SUGAR PLUM FAIRY!!!
Danced in their heads.

And mama in her kerchief,
And I, in my cap,
Went to sleep,
For a long winters nap.

Then out on the lawn,
There arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed,
To see what was the matter.

Yes..... I know you wanna here want happend next, don't you :P Weeeeell, I'll just tell you that a man in red comes, and gives gifts and says:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night,

Wierd family traditions

I love family Christmas traditions, like going to see the Nutcracker, and baking cookies. But every family has a wierd tradition.... In Denmark we celebrate Christmas in the evening the 24th, and the 23th is called "Little Christmas eve". On little Christmas eve, we ALWAYS, and I really mean always, eat hot chocolate-soup. It is basicly just hot chocolate in a bowl, eaten with a spoon. It is really quite wierd, but if we have something else for dinner, it is just wrong! What is your family's wierd traditions??

Hot chocolate in a bowl, and merry little Christmas eve,

It is a beautiful day and I can't see it...

This is one of the most beautiful videos on youtube ever!! I always have tears rolling down cheeks, when I watch it...
I wish there were more of those people like the woman. More people that help others, even though they aren't like them. I also feel so sad for all the people who are blind, or any other kind of handicapped. God bless them. That reminds me of the Christmas song "Christmas is coming".

"Christmas is coming, goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old mans hat!
If you havn't got a penny a haypenny will do,
If you havn't got a haypenny,
Then God bless you!"

I'm so thankful that me and all my family can see all the beautiful days!

Today it was the last day at school, before the holidays! So now I have Christmasbreak! Yaaaay! I am going to or summer residence (or know it is winter residence?). I have spent Christmas' here every year since I was born. It is an old farm, with two houses and a garage, all in white with loads of garden around it. I love being there, it just makes me feel home. Actually I lived there just when I was born, but it was only 1 year, from when I was 0-1. It is never really Christmas until I get there. All the baking of cookies, decorating and caroling, is really just the best.

(Un)Happy Christmas?

There are big expectations when it is Christmas-time. Everybody are supposed to be happy and joyfull, and have a wonderful cozy time with their families. But every year you almost always get just a little bit disapointed, because nobody can live up to the high demands. Every family has it's traditions, and if you break them or do them just a little bit wrong, everyone gets irretated. Christmas is also a stressed time. All the foods and gifts and decorations has to be perfect. But nothing can be perfect.
People can also feel alone on Christmas, if they haven't got a family. And sadness is also turned up a bit in the supposed to be best month of the year, December. When you have to be happy, it is always harder. When you try to fake being happy, you just get even more sad... And then everything just shatters to peices.
If you are one of those people feeling sad, unloved and lonely, remember, I love you, and send you loads of giant christmas hugs. And most of all: It is okay to be sad, because Christmas is also a time for honesty!

Love straight from my heart to yours!

Nutcracker

Yesterday I went to see the Royal Danish Ballet perform Balanchine's version of The Nutcracker. I didn't really like the new costumes and scenography that was made for this ballet. And the dancers weren't the best, since most of the solos were danced by corps members. But I kind of understand that. The Nutcracker must be a good ballet for the artistic director to see how corps members deal with solos, because the parts are quite small.
One thing I always love is the music! Tchaikovsky sure was a genius! I'm almost always humming the Waltz of the Flowers, or Little Overture. Going to see Nutcracker also made me in such a Christmas spirit! The feeling I get when the ratking, Clara and the nutcracker fighting, and when Sugar Plum dances with her prince, and when Dewdrop does her balances. I just feel like Christmas is officially here. .. There is really nothing like the happiness you get when it time for Jesus' birthday ;)

Life in Dance

I just bought a new ballet book, in this tiny teeny, dusty bookstore. The book is called "Life In Dance" by no other than...... DARCEY BUSSELL! Looove her!!! It is kind of an autobiography thing about her dance life, she wrote it in 1998, so it isn't so up to date, but so what? I love how it describes how she got into dance, and what she thinks of everything.
It must be wonderful to do something you love so much, and then when people have seen you, they want to read a book aout how you did it. That truely must warm you heart!

Dance, dance, dance!
Kisses,

And it is one of the most important things in my life. What is one thing is your life, that you love and is very important for you? Leave a comment :D

Family

Today my mom came home from USA. She had been to a conference in 10 days, so we had all missed her alot. When she came in the door, we were all hugging her and speaking 1000 miles/hour. It must feel so amazing, coming home to a family that loves you and cares about you! A family that has missed you, and thought of you when you weren't there. I hope that someday I, and all other people, will come home to a house, with loved ones, that loves you back. One of my biggest dreams is, not to be rich or famouse, but to have a family. A family that supports me, and loves me for who I am.

Hope that all your dreams come true,

I really have No idea for a title!

Yesterday I went to ballet class, for the first time in 2 weeks. IT WAS WONDERFUL! I had already forgotten how lovely it was dancing. We started working on a dane we are dancing in march, on the main stage of the royal danish theater. It is to Tchaikovski's 6. symphonie Pathetique. I'm dancing along with 5 other girls, in an eeeextremly fast pointe-turning thing :)

Have a lovely friday!

Always look on the bright side of life!

Sorry I haven't updated my blog lately. But I have been sick, and had a pile as big as a house full of homework :( I have been to sick to go to ballet class, but today I'm going! Yaay! Can just feel my body isn't as much in shape as it was before I got sick, but that just gives me an excuse to go to  some more classes. Always look on the bright side of life!

Bright things in my life right now:

- That my family are all happy and healthy!

- That it is soon Christmas!

- That I have ballet class!

- That all the homework I'm doing, is making me clever'ere!

Happy thoughts and big hugs,

1. december!!

Today it's the first of december!!!! Yaaay! I love Christmas, but ONLY in december. Stores start decorating their windows in early november, and the radios start playing Christmas songs there too. I can't stand it. But when december starts, I'm in the most Christmassy mood baking cookies and decorating.
The best things about Christmas, is being with my family and celebrating the birth of Jesus. I also love the Nutcracker!!!!! Nothing to get me in a better Christmas spirit, than going to watch the Nutcracker. Another thing, is Christmas music. Especially "Christmas with Harry Belafonde", a Christmas album, my grandmother always listens to.

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!!

Sick...

Sickness... God, I hate it! I have layed on the sofa, the last 2 days. I haven't been to school, no ballet. Walking up the stairs with a glass of water, feels like walking up Mount Everst with an elephant on my back.
Beeing sick, makes me think of the people that have cancer or another long-time sickness. When I'm sick, I'm sad and in a bad mood. People with cancer, smile, laugh and keep their hopes up high. They are strong. They make me want to be strong.

Hugs and kisses,

Things to do!

I have so much to do! Ballet this afternoon + rehearsal, rehearsal tomorrow, dancing in a music-video on saturday. Have to do piles of essays, mathproblems, read loads of things for physics and chemistry, french translations + other homework. And on top of that I'm ill... I just haven't got time for that as well!!!
I keep a shedule, of all the things I have to do. And it helps, but I still could use an hour or two more each day! Please leave a comment telling me tips, PLEASE! I always try to be positive and smile, so I'm smiling all I can, to keep on top of it all!

Big Smiles

Today at school, we played basket against some other schools. I REALLY DO NOT LIKE BASKET BALL!!! And when we were done, my teacher came over to me and said: "Good job! You really like basket, don't you?" And I was like ?????. The only thing I had done, was smile all day.    If you smile, you can make people happy. And they will smile at you.
My lesson of the day: Sometimes you make people happy, be faking it! And it makes you happier to make someone happy!

Big smiles,

What is Happiness?

What is happiness?? I've always wondered. If you look it up in a dictonary it says: Felling of deep joy and great satisfaction for the (life) situation you are in. But is it? Happiness isn't a thing you can put to lines under. I think happiness is different from person to person. And sometimes happiness can be the same as love. Not love, like a boy loves a girl. But love for the world, everything. Happiness can also be a felling of peace in your soul. Happiness can be everything.

Happiness to all. Young or old. Thick or thin. Black or white.

Cake VS leotard

I have a sweet tooth, and sometimes it can get the better of me. But I have this deal with myself:
If I eat, so I'm proud of myself, for one whole month, then i will allow myself to by a new leotard!

Notice that i write "Eat, so I'm proud of myself"? When I eat to much unhealthy stuff, I don't feel pround of myself, so in the month, I don't diet! I still allow me to eat cake sometimes, but only to the extend when I'm pround. Of course I try not to eat to much :D A trick when I'm hungry for sweets, is that a go look at a website who sells leotards, to see what "prize" I'm gonna buy myself.

Cakes and leotards,

Smile

I love listening to Laurie Berker's childrens songs. One of my favorites is "Smile", and today, when  I heard it it made me write a little poem inspired by it.

SMILE

I know a very special boy,
When I'm with him he fills my heart with joy,
And he make me smile,
He makes me smile.

You are my very special boy,
And I hope I make you smile,
'Cause I love the way you smile,
The way you smile.

I love my very special boy,
When we smile together,
The whole world smiles,
We make it smile.

A bit cheesy, but so what? Hope it made you smile!

Smiles,

Nothing changes...

Today i went back to my old kindergarden/preschool. In Denmark (where I live) it is called a "Børnehave" which directly translated into english means "kids-garden". I hadden't been there for about 10 years. When I came in, it was exactly, and i mean EXACTLY how it was when I was little. The color on the wall were the same, the playground was the same, everything. Even one of the teachers, who was wearing what she did ten years ago, jeans and a pink shirt. It was like stepping back in time. Nothing around us changes, the only thing that does is the people. it is like a big show, and the actors are just changing roles.

Running around on a playground (Hey, it rims!),

Proud, not selfish!

Sometimes the small things in life, is the things that makes us happy. For instance: Today while doing a pirouette combination in balletclass, my theacher stod in front of me and said "Know do seven turns!", she meant it as a joke, but i turn and do 6! The rest of the day I got a little smile on my face, when I thought about it. Some may say this is selfish. I don't think so. It is okay to be proud of yourself. It is okay to think you are good at something. You are always your own's worst critic, and when you do something well be proud!! Right know: Smile to yourself, and say one thing out loud, that you have done last week, that made you proud. Do it! I mean it!! Just try, you feel a but wierd, sitting to yourself, smiling and talking, but you will also feel happy! Try doing this, when you are feeling down and sad. It helps. Really, it helps!

Smiling to myself, without feeling selfish!

Dealing with competition

Sometimes there may come a new student in your class. You can't deny, every time someone new comes, you always, check them out to see if they're better than you. When they are better than yourself, you are always put a bit out. If they can stick their leg in their ear, turn 3 pirouettes every time and do one billion fouéttes on pointe, it makes you a bit angry at them. Sometimes some people are just better than you, I you have to accept it.

But there are some ways to deal with it,

Like:

- Try to use them as a motivation to find out what you want to do better.

- Stop thinking about them and concentrate on your own dancing!

- Find the things that you do better, even little things like "I have better feet than her" or  "I hold my little finger prettier".

- Ballet is art, not some sort of competition!!!

It can be hard, but stay positive. One day you might step into a new studio, and people will think you're competition!

Most importantly of all, remember that you're perfect the way you were made and you can't do anything better than your best!

Being the best I can be,

Tired muscles in a happy body!

Today my ballet classes began!!!! All day at school, I kept looking at the clock counting the hours till I would be at the studio :D

First i helped teach the little kids in their pink tutus. Then I took a advanced class, and then I took grownups. 4 hours of dancing, sure makes me tired. When i came home i had piles of homework to do, but my ballet-happiness-wave got me through it. It's lovely to have someting that makes you feel so happy and wonderful!! <3

Outside Dancing

Today the weather is much better. The sun is peeking out, I can see the blue sky and every thing is fresh and clean (exept my shirt, I just spilt a cup of tea over myself... UPS!). When the weather is better, my mood is better. Just like when you feel beautiful on the outside, you feel beautiful on the inside.

Me and my friends sometimes take pictures of us dancing/balletposeing outside, when the weather is nice. The picture above me and my friend took of me some weeks ago. It's so different to se yourself on photo, dancing in a field, when you usualy see yourself in a mirror in a studio. You really can learn alot from watching yourself dance. Then you can see the corrections you get in class, alot easier than in mirror.

Huge huges,

Feeling Sound-Of-Musicy

Today it's rainy, grey, and dull... And I try to keep my mood up :D When ever i feel sad or just down right bad tempered, I don't think of all the bad things, i think of things I'm looking forward to, like I'm healty, I have a good reason to sit infront of my computer all day :D OR THAT MY DANCE CLASSES STARTS ON MONDAY!!!!
I love the song from The Sound of Music called "My favorite things", and it's what I try to do.

Luckily for you can't hear me singing "beautifully" (I absolutly can't sing), but you can read my fave part:

Girls in a white dresses with a blue satin sashes,
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
silver white winters that melt into springs,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
when I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad.

Hoping no dogs will bit tomorrow,
Me <3
