No modeling business

Today I watched, as I often do ballet videos on youtube. Anaheim ballet had to videos that truly inspired me. One with Maria Kochetkova and one with Misty Copeland. Maria Kochetkova said "Ballet isn't a modeling business", and this I think is so beautiful. You don't need to be the perfect height, with long limbs, arched feet, no hips and boobs. No! You just need the will and the passion! Everybody can be perfect in their own way. Everybody can dance. The only things you need, is a body and a willing to work and love it.
   If people tell you, you are to short, push past it. If people tell you, you are to big, push past it. Prove them wrong. Show them you can do it.

Etudes

Etudes is one of my all time favorite ballets. It's made by Harald Lander, a dane (like me). I have seen the Royal Danish Ballet perform it so very many times. I also saw it in Russia, some years ago, but I really thought the danes were the best maybe it's just because I'm danish, but I think seeing the people dance something, who have learned it from the original dancers is the best. It's like seeing a Balanchine ballet danced by New York City Ballet's dancers.

Being busy

I am so sorry I havn't posted much these past couples of weeks. I have been very busy with end-of.year performance, final exams and then I have been ill. Sometimes I think it is hard to do all the things you have to and want to, when you not only just have school, like many of my friends, who think it is hard just getting past that, I also have ballet many hours a week, but I love it, and it drives and motivates me to do my best at everything, even though it is hard sometimes. Here at home we are also renovating the top 2 floors of our house, so we are living in a pile of dust, with constructionworkers, tools and what not.... Looking forwards to when it's done, and school is out!

Age is just a number!

Today is my birthday, yaay! I never understand the people who are so eager to grow up. Everybody will grow up, and it'll come all by itself, so why not just be who you are. Because when you finally are old, you'll wish you where young again, no wrinkles no grey hairs. I think you are beautiful at every age, old, young, child. Everything has their beauty. When you are a child you are a innocent, chubby cutiepie, when you are a teen you are developping, when you are an adult, you have one of the best jobs in the world, being a parent, when you are old, you have a life behind you, where you have done things you are proud of.

Ways to make your day a better, happier day!

5 ways to make your day happier:
Smile at people. If you smile to the world, the world will smile to you!
Give compliments. If you teel people nice things, it will boost you own happiness.
Do things you like. Hang out with friends, take balletclass, watch a good movie, anything you like. It'll make you day brighter.
Laugh! Laugh with your friends, at your mistakes, at anything appropriate.
Look at the bright side of life. If you have homework it makes you smarter, if it is rainy it'll make the plants happy, if you sick, you can stay on the couch, if your sad, better ties will come.

Jewels

Today we started rehearsing Rubies, by George Balanchine. I love it, and have danced some years now. I'm in the corps and also have a pas de trois with loads of pirouettes and other turns. When Balanchine created "Jewels", each act, or three jewel: Emeralds, Rubies and Dimonds symbolised a periode in his life. I think it is a wonderful thing, that you can tell you lifestory, through dance!

Stop judging, start loving!

Today I was at the playground with my four year old sister! We played in the sandbox, and then I went and sat on a bench, and a little girl came over to my sister. They started playing, and soon they were practically best friends, and making planes to play in preschool tomorrow. And it made me think: Small children doesn't judge each other. They won't care if their friend is black or white, boy or girl, how their past was, if they believe in Jesus or not! I wish it wasn't just small kids who did this. I wish everybody could stop judging each other, and just love each other and what they stand for! It would really make the world a better place... But is it possible.... It is certainly hard to believe it when you read the news paper, and the thing they always write about is crime, hate, racism and war! Stop judging, start loving! That would solve a lot of problems!

The Four Temperaments

We are having a end-of-year-show in the start of june, and therefore I have had rehearsal all day. I am dancing a lot of things, but today it was for The Four Temperaments. It is one of my absolut favorite ballet!! I am dancing the sanguinic pas de deux and solo. I love it! I'm also dancing the devils dance and of course the finale.

Polka dot umbrellas!

Today is a rainy day. I actually like rain. It rinses of all the dirt and bad things, and replaces it with fresh and new things. I love walking in the rain under my polka dot umbrella, listing to french songs and seeing small kids jumping in puddels. It is wonderful! It rinses the soul!

Back again

So sorry I have posted anyting for a loooooong time!! I've been so busy with school work, rehearsals and performances. I have, since my last update, danced at The Royal Danish Theater in Copenhagen. It was fantastic! The feeling of finally showing what you have been working hard for, to an audience is wonderful.

   Today at balletclass, we did a grand allegro across the floor, and when I was doing it, it felt like I was really dancing. Not training, not trying to dance, but dancing. I forgot time and space, and when I landed after the last grand jété, I could my teacher was really pleased with it, just by the look on her face. She looked at me like she knew just how I had felt. And she told me it was beautiful, and she estremly rarely says anything like that. This might sound "ego-like", but as I have metioned before, it is not egoistic to be proud of yourself...

Valentine's Day!

As everybody knows, today is valentines day! The day, we think about love, chocolates, roses and pink hearts. Many also think about being alone, with out a boy/girlfriend. All those people thinking they'll be alone forever: STOP! You won't! Out in the world somewhere, is a wonderful and smart person. A person you'll love, and who will love you. A person who will respect you, care for you. God is just waiting for the right moment to show him/her to you! You may see all the couples walking hand in hand, just wait! Someday it will be you, holding the hand of the most fantastic person you can ever imagine.

   But it is valentines day, you may say. It is special! You have to have a boy/girlfriend. No! What is so special about today? Nothing. It is just a normal, grey, boring tuesday. Really. The thing that makes it special is if you have someone special to share it with. And if you don't, then just wait, maybe next year, or the year after you will have that special one of your dreams to share 14. of january with! 

   And until then, you can just spend valentinesday, in thee couch, watching a romantic movie like Titanic, The Notebook, or Dirty Dancing, eating ice cream, thinking of how nice it is to be single and free, like me!

Be happy, you can just pretend that Valentine's day this year is cancelled because it is the 14.2.12 and 14-2-12=0!

Nothing to be afraid of!



When I were like 10, I had a little cameo, in a children dance series, on danish TV. I hate seeing the clip, because seeing yourself dance many years ago, but I always get happy, because I get proud of myself for improving ALOT! I Denmark the schools aren't divided after age, before you get to high school, so I went with alot of kids all different ages, and therefor all the small girls came (and stil do) up to me, totally shy and say something like "I saw you on tv...!". And once somebody even said "I wish to be like you, when I'm older.", and it just waaarms my heart! I know many small girls are to shy to say anything to a "big" girl, but why? They won't do anything. The only thing they can do is to be flattered and happy! Even if it is not a age difference, that doesn't make you speek to a person, JUST DO IT! Please! What could they do you? NOTHING, they'll only think you're nice.

"The look"

Today was the last class before our winterbreak. We are rehearsing three pieces to show at the Royal Danish Theater in march. We were dancing pretty good, but we were not together on the music, and our teacher kept telling us to be. Then the last few times we danced it everybody were like "OK! Lets do our VEEEERY best, and be all together now!". And then when we danced again it just felt so much better. And afterwards we all knew, that we had danced really well, and you could just see from the look on our teachers face, that she was really pleased and happy with us. She didn't say anything, but the look she gave.... it was amazing! I love how a look, can tell everything!

Sous le Ciel de Paris

Many of you probably can't speek french, but even though you can still enjoy this "typical french" song. It is by Edith Piaf, and is called "Sous le ciel de Paris" (English: Under the sky of Paris). 

    I love hearing french singing, even though I don't understand all the words (I've had french for 3 years in school, but I'm not fluent...Yet!) I think that to hear music isn't to understand the words, but to feel the music itself!!

A cheap price

Sorry I havn't posted in a while ;) I have been really busy with school and ballet. It is often quite hard to get my homework done when I have class/rehearsal. And I have to stay up late to finish all my things. But I don't really mind. When I get so much joy from ballet, I think it is okay, that I have to pay in some way. And it is fine with me to pay with putting in an extra effort on my homework, blisters and a bit of pain. I actually think that it is cheap! Homework gets done, blisters and pain go away, but my joy of dance, never does!

BE YOURSELF

I love wearing high-waisted knee-length skirts, a big flower in my hair, and it is almost always in a bun. I listen to classical music and jazz. We have no TV, and I go to the theater, more than I go to the movies. Many people I know say that I'm old fashioned. I say that I'm me. I don't care what other people think of me, as long as I'm happy with myself. Don't think about what other people will think of you, just do what you feel like, dress so you feel beautiful, live so you love it!
